Wizardry 8 is essentially my special interest. I've created this archive so that more people could see the amazing art, story, characters, enviornments, monsters and etc that this game has to offer!
I used to play this game with my Dad since before I can even remember.
He used to be in the Air Force, stationed in Misawa, Japan. He was in his early 20s and worked overnights as military police. One of his friends worked in a tower, with many computers. His friend was pretty skilled in his field of computer knowledge, and late nights were very boring.
This was in 2005, when video games needed a physical vehicle to be inserted into another machine to make it all work. However, my dad's friend somehow surpassed this (at the time) fact of life and downloaded dozens of games directly to his military-issued-work-laptop. Among those games was Wizardry 8. My dad's friend downloaded it onto HIS military-issued-work-laptop, and he, like his friend, sank many, many hours into the dungeon-crawling sandbox.
He would come home maybe a few months, or maybe a year or so later, and would play the game with his young daughter, who was me :3! I would watch him play for hours and hours on end, and eventually I would play myself as well.
We lived in my Nana’s (his mother's) basement, and I would wait for my Dad in his bedroom on the weekends, playing our game. He would come home with a little Caesars pepperoni pizza with ranch. When we ate, he would always say, “Let's watch some educational,” and I would protest but it wouldn't matter because we would obviously watch it anyway.
When we were done eating, we would play again.
This archive wouldn't be possible without all the previous ones that came before it. Huge, huge shout-out to old wikis and especially Flamestryke’s Wizardry 8 wiki. I fear that one day these old sites will become defunct and broken. This is my way of hopefully preserving all of their work, as well as my own.
